From South Korea With Love

September 11 has a new meaning in our lives. It is the day that by the grace of Shri Mataji, first weekly Sahaja Yoga meeting started in Gwangju, South Korea. Words can not describe the joy that was felt by all when they received their self-realization and went into silence. But let me back up and attempt to tell you how it all came to be possible.

Almost two years ago a yogi in New York City was on a business trip in Korea. He sent a message asking the collective to give a bandhan for Korea. That he had met a person wanting to start a collective there. I had been in Korea during my time in the Navy and remembered how much I had wanted to go back to Far Asia since becoming a Sahaja Yogi. It was in Far Asia where I really felt the energy that propelled me to receiving my self-realization in New York City. So I emailed the yogi brother hoping he would be able to connect me with someone that would be able to tell me about job opportunities in Korea. Well, Mother showed us that it was not the time yet to leave America. So we surrendered and just placed it at her feet.

In May of this year, I was offered an English teaching job that was almost too good to be true. We took it as a sign that the our time had come to leave New York City. It was perhaps one of the most difficult decisions that we had to make. Leaving the familiar to go with our two young kids into the unknown. Our daughter would just say "daddy, just meditate!" So we did and for the first couple of months in Gwangju, without a Sahaj family nearby vibrationally it was rough.

Then one day, while introspecting on our decision to come to Korea, I asked Mother to make it possible for us to share what she has shown us about love and our connection to the divine. I walked into the Gwangju International Center (GIC), the only place where non-Koreans and Koreans would meet on a weekly bases in Gwangju to discuss different cultural, educational and professional topics. And I spoke with one of the center's representatives about starting a free yoga meditation. She immediately wanted to know more about Sahaja Yoga. She asked me if this "yoga" was the reason that I had such a big smile. I replied, "it is the root of all my joy". She said she would talk to the director about it. She said she felt really strongly that the Center was in need of something like this.

We send them a press kit that was used in the U.S. and within 24 hours they wanted to have a weekly meeting of Sahaja Yoga. They did all the advertising for us by publishing an advertisement in the local magazine and posting a notice on the GIC website. I was told, before the first meeting had started that they wanted Sahaja Yoga to be normal part of the Center's offerings.

On September 11at 5pm there were 18 people sitting in complete connection to the all-prevailing power. Before the meeting started there were so many questions. What is yoga? What is meditation? Who is Shri Mataji? We asked them to save their questions until after the video of Shri Mataji's guided meditation. We knew that all the questions would melt into nothingness once Shri Mataji spoke. After the meditation, one of the korean men hugged me and said, "where has this been all my life? Thank you! Thank You!" I told him I did not do anything. That if he continued to continued to come and meditate he would find out who did it. He said he would be back. He walked away with his face glowing. All of the seekers said that they look forward to the next time we could meet again. We have invited them to our home for some traditional Romanian food full of vibrations.

Shri Mataji, you are the doer. Thank you for allowing us to be your vessels. Thank you for the daily reminders of your love for us through the hearts of seekers. May you continue to use us however you wish.
