How would it be if we could give Realization to thousands at least once every month? This weekend of January 13 – 14, the auspicious weekend of Makar Sankranti, Shri Mataji blessed the Washington DC group with an ethereal experience at the NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo in Washington DC.
Gathering there for the second year in a row and armed with more Yogis, this time the efforts were doubled with plans to launch 5 Week Courses at nine locations all over the DC Tristate Area, following up from the Expo. With this buzz of enthusiasm, Yogi teams got to work promoting the programs, postering and preparing for the NBC4 Expo. DC Sahaja Yoga was also invited to take center stage at 11AM on Saturday in presenting “Music and Meditation; the Sahaja Way”.
The morning started with a parade of all the exhibitors and the yogis held high the Realize America Banner as they walked the lanes.
But it was on the music stage that the DC Bhajan Group realized that things were going to be a little different in 2007. Although the traffic had not reached its peak at the Convention Center at 11AM, the Vibrations started gushing as soon as the first strains of “Bolo Adi Shakti” starting flowing from the Demonstration Stage. Once i was time to give Self Realization from the stage, we could all feel a different level of energy and awareness and moving on to “Jogwa”, the feelings of bliss were unmistakable. After the performance, the deluge of seekers started at Booth M5 hosted by the local Sahaja Yogis.
Before we knew it, Saturday was over and on taking count we found that over 600 had taken Self Realization and 1500 fliers had been distributed. Orders were placed to replenish the print materials on hand for Sunday and Yogis headed off for foot soaks and an evening of the kind of satisfaction you only have after giving Self Realization.
Sunday dawned and it was almost as if the elements were edging us along with lovely, cool weather replacing the usual bitterness of winter. Although the start was slow, by 12 noon, seekers were pouring into the booth eager to try out this “cool” new thing. Such was the flow of traffic that one of the event coordinators had to come over to comment “You guys need a bigger booth next year!”
By Mother’s Grace, an NBC4 freelancer decided to stop by and get some images, curious to see what was drawing so many people. The coordinator of the DC Holi Mela came over to invite the DC Sahaja Group to host a one-hour Yoga workshop at the Holi Mela in March and the Director of a non-profit group aiding disabled people asked for Sahaja brochures to distribute to their community. Tired but thoroughly satisfied, Sahajis realized that it was 5PM too soon on Sunday evening and it was time to wrap up. By the end of the weekend, more than 1200 people had taken realization and thousands had walked out of the expo knowing about Sahaja Yoga.
